Omnifocus vs evernote9/5/2023 His job (especially between WWDC and the iOS release date) is to do research, take notes, and write. On the other hand, take someone like Federico Viticci. Throw in the fact that for many managers email is also where the work is and the compulsion to use it for task management becomes almost irresistible. This explains why so many people use their inbox as a task list (despite how ill suited email is for that). For many workers, their work starts in email: they get tasks delegated to them from their boss, they get partially done work from colleagues for them to do then next step on, they get finished work from subordinates for review, etc. If I could extend this concept a bit, I think two of the really big factors in where people manage their tasks are where the work is and where the work starts.įor example, take email. Federico Viticci explains this so well on Connected episode 344 (starting at 1h4m) No swapping between apps to log actions and ideas when in the midst of something. That is definitely not ideal, mainly because of this: That said, one of the things that I brought back with me into Things was the habit of using more the note field to capture details of the decision making involved in the action and into the project itself. The main reason was the lack of fluidity on task filtering and the whole process of tagging and processing that was built into Things and I took for granted since using it from v1. While the experience of trying was actually very enjoyable for those same reasons Ryan pointed out, it did not stick and I reverted back to my Things setup with links back to the corresponding Obsidian notes. (Evernote’s implementation looks a lot like what Noteplan has with its review filter, so I don’t feel like this message is hijacking the post topic) I was first inspired by the way Noteplan allowed for task filtering and then by the use of Obsidian’s Dataview plug-in. I’ve been thinking about this as well and even considered moving my task system entirely into Obsidian, just as did. What do I have wrong in this assessment? I’m an minimalist at heart so I’m genuinely interested. Everything is integrated but I have the power of OF at my disposal. OF keeps that structure in place and I have a link back to the note in Craft. The beauty of a program like Craft for projects notes is I can highlight a heading with its tasks and share those to OF. Even if possible, it seems to me to require substantial tweaking and customization to make a note app work as a task manager whereas OF (and other task managers) is designed specifically for that purpose. It may be that I don’t understand the possibilities in Obsidian or a similar program but I don’t see how Obsidian can handle that complexity. OF gives me those abilities through perspectives, tags, forecasts, etc. I also need the ability to look at the present and into the future for tasks coming due by me or others in a bird’s eye view and be able to filter those views by person, project, urgency, etc. I need to send emails into my task manager as a way of adding tasks, accountabilities, etc., to projects. For example, I need to be able to defer, repeat, tag, and flag projects and tasks on a ongoing, evolving basis. I have to manage a large number of relatively complex projects across multiple departments, I don’t see how a simple task system like one in Obsidian can handle that complexity. I have no idea what you do and your responsibilities may well be broader and more complex than mine but with that caveat, I don’t believe I could implement such a system effectively-though I’d love to think I could. So, before this it was iA Writer for a lot of the While I’d love to think that a consolidated system such as you describe would work, I suspect that it depends on the complexity of one’s responsibilities and tasks. DEVONthink for RSS, read-it-later, and file managementįor what it’s worth, I had already abandoned the other task managers and was trying to build a task management system in DEVONthink (using custom metadata) when Obsi came along.Obsidian for tasks and project management. ![]() So, my list is a lot simpler than and hah… (I don’t know how well this applies to Evernote’s solution-it looks like it imposes some ideas about task metadata on you.) I’m always frustrated by the limited conceptual model apps like OmniFocus put on what a task is. Infinite customizability in terms of what you include in a task, including metadata.Getting rid of the task management app has two invaluable benefits for me: So, if everything (else) you have is in Evernote, putting tasks there too may be great for you. I have never been happier with my set-up since I moved tasks into Obsidian.

The blood of heroes book9/4/2023 ![]() The Blood of Heroes takes just the right parts from each of its contributors to create the ideal finished product."Readers longing for a return to Camp Half-Blood will get their wish.the action scenes come frequently as the three heroic teens fight monstrous enemies in North American locales. A collaborative project like this could very easily have turned into a battle between egos or styles, resulting in a disjointed and uneven album. ![]() Through 11 tracks and nearly one hour of playing time, the album is very consistent, which says a lot about the talents of the musicians and producers who came together. While there are a few songs that could stand out as singles on their own (such as “Salute to the Jugger”, “Wounds Against Wounds”, “Bound”, and “Blinded”), The Blood of Heroes really is an album to listen to in its entirety, as the overall mood and concept would be lost otherwise. So, where does The Blood of Heroes fit in to the music filing system? Electronica seems like a fitting catch-all category, but the album should appeal to fans of dub, trance, industrial metal and ambient noise rock, as well as anyone who has a dusty VHS copy of the movie sitting on his or her shelf. The sparse and scattered vocals take a backseat to dub rhythms, ambient electronic sounds, and heavy dirge-like guitar work, and serve mainly to further enhance the dark mood or provide a bit of story-telling as needed. From the beginning to the end of the album, the songs on The Blood of Heroes convey the same sort of bleakness and despair that the film does, with an interesting yet coherent mix of musical styles. Not surprisingly, the album sounds very much like a movie score, no doubt owing some of that sound to the involvement of film sound designer/editor M. In addition to the life-and-death nature of these matches, if a team has continued success it may have the opportunity to compete in “The League” (sponsored by the few remaining cities which are home to any affluence and comfort), which is the sole opportunity for residents outside the cities to escape their hardscrabble existence. Originally released in Australia in 1989 under the title Salute to the Jugger, the film has a main plot which deals with the survivors of a post-apocalyptic world eking out whatever existence they can in so-called “dog towns”, where the only sport is a violent rugby-like game where armed teams from rival towns compete for tribute from their town if they win. Its name and inspiration come from the film of the same name, starring Rutger Hauer, Joan Chen, and Vincent D’Onofrio. The Blood of Heroes is the end result of a year-long collaboration of artists from many different genres, including vocalist Dr. Where does The Blood of Heroes belong? We illustrate the model by a numerical example and open access implementation in R. The payoff in the game is the attacker’s chance to reach this final stage, while the defender’s goal is minimizing this likelihood (risk). It also has asymmetric information, since the adversary is stealthy at all times, until the damage causing phase of the APT. The game is thus repeated, i.e., in discrete time, only for the defender, while the second player (adversary) moves in continuous time. While the defender is doing so in fixed intervals governed by working hours/shifts, the attacker is allowed to take any number of moves at any point in time. The defender’s aim is “cutting” this rope by cleaning the system from (even unknown) backdoors, e.g., by patching systems or changing configurations. In each step, it leaves a backdoor for an easy return to learn how to accomplish the next step. We model an APT as a game played on an attack graph G, and consider the following interaction pattern: the attacker chooses an attack path in G towards its target \(v_0\), and step-by-step works its way towards the goal by repeated penetrations. A major characteristic of Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) is their stealthiness over a possibly long period, during which the victim system is being penetrated and prepared for the finishing blow. Sleipnir dildo9/4/2023 ![]() ![]() Screengrab of the author, taken by the author, from her video review below. ![]() There’s a different vibe that monster toys bring to a video or cam session as compared to a realistic dildo, so I’m willing to say that there’s a benefit to picking up this (or another monster-themed) toy if you want to expand your repertoire of filming options. Given how Bad Dragon is often the first brand that comes to mind when thinking of monster-themed toys, there’s a considerable draw based on the simple fact that it’s a brand the consumer is aware of (as opposed to the lesser-known monster toy brands like those found on Etsy). Despite this minor hangup, I think Sleipnir is such an enjoyable toy that I just chalked it up as a learning experience. I love having that versatility because toys are much more useful for filming and personal use when you can stick them somewhere and they stay put. For this one, I didn’t, and I’ll admit I sometimes consider picking up a second with that option. I found that the detailing really pops on camera even in a moderate amount of light, making it a great choice to film with.Īn important thing to note: You can choose to order most items on the Bad Dragon website with or without a suction cup on the base. Given those points, I’d say that this is a bit more intense than a realistic toy with similar measurements, so it might require a bit more lube or preparation.Īesthetically, I would say that my toy is gorgeous! I picked it up as a clearance item (hence the non-standard coloration you can see in my review video below). Do note that this toy has a good amount of girth, and due to the blunt, non-tapered head I would hesitate to recommend this toy to beginners. The ridges along the underside and its bulbous head are AMAZING for both G-spot and, I would assume, prostate play. This toy’s primary use is for penetration, which works well with the design features. You’ll feel some amount of give when you squeeze it, so it’s not overly rigid. This toy also has a fair amount of firmness, but their Medium silicone is a great compromise. Sleipnir is made from 100 percent body-safe silicone, meaning it’s body-safe, waterproof, non-porous and very stretchy and durable. The XL, on the other hand, has an insertable length of 12.5” and a circumference of 12.5” - perfect for those looking for more of a challenge. For comparison purposes, the Mini has a length of 5.75” from tip to base with an insertable length of 4.8” and circumference of 4.75.” This makes it a great option if you love Sleipnir’s look but are hesitant about the size. Sleipnir, like many other Bad Dragon toys, comes in a variety of sizes: from Mini to XL. It weighs just a little over 1 lb, so there’s a satisfying heft to it when you pick it up too. This particular size measures 7.75” length, from tip to base, with an insertable length of about 6.5.” The average circumference is also about 6.5,” so it has enough girth and length that it provides a nice stretch. Bad Dragon definitely tends toward the generous end of toy sizing, so please take that into account when looking at the sizes. ![]() Ok, so off the bat, this version of Sleipnir I’m reviewing is a Small. Sleipnir, specifically, is based on Norse mythology: He was born from Loki shapeshifting into a mare and getting intimate with a stallion, from whence he was born and became Odin’s most prized steed. Hi! I’m Lily O’Riley, and I want to welcome you to the first written installment of Lily O’Riley Reviews! If Video DownloadHelper DOES NOT uninstall properly or you are still seeing it’s name after uninstall then you are likely dealing with a tampered version of the Add-on and it should be treated as Malware. If you really want to make the video downloadhelper companion app safe to use, you could also enable the "inconspicuous installation" of the video files, so that the files won't appear to be downloaded automatically, as they are being used. This does mean that it's important to remember to re-enable the built-in download manager every time you want to use the video downloadhelper, but it's certainly much easier than having to remember to go through the steps every single time. ![]() You'll then be able to access the Download Helper application from a new window, and the video file that you want to download will start playing.Īnother way to make the video downloadhelper companion app safe to use is to install the Google Chrome version, which has become the world's most popular browser, and disable the built-in download manager, or at least hide it from the main menu. You should then click Tools and then unchecked the "Allow downloaded programs" box.
